Your account

You can browse Situations without an account. Sign in to save words, keep learning progress, or use personalized online features. You are responsible for keeping your login secure and for activity that happens under your account. You must be at least 13 years old to sign up.

You can delete your account at any time from Your account → Delete account on iPhone, or Settings → Account → Delete Account on the website.

Free iPhone release and website billing

The initial iPhone release is free and has no in-app purchases or subscriptions. Online features may have usage limits, shown in the app. Any future paid iPhone features will explain their price and terms before purchase.

Purchases made on the web

Website subscriptions, where offered, are processed by Stripe at the price shown before purchase and renew automatically until cancelled. You can cancel from website Settings at any time; access continues until the end of the period you have paid for.

Refunds

For website purchases, contact andrew@pauseplayrepeat.com. Except where the law requires otherwise, payments are non-refundable.

AI-generated content

Lessons, conversations, translations, tutor replies, and pronunciation feedback are generated using AI, and may occasionally be inaccurate, unnatural, or inappropriate for a given context. Immersive Language is a study aid — please use judgement before relying on a phrase in a situation where getting it wrong matters, and do not treat anything in the app as professional, legal, or medical advice.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use the app for anything unlawful, abusive, or harmful to others
• Attempt to access other users' accounts or data, or probe or disrupt the service
• Scrape, resell, or redistribute content from the app, or use it to train competing models
• Circumvent usage limits, paywalls, or other technical restrictions

Content and ownership

The app, its content, and its design belong to us or our licensors, and are protected by copyright and other laws. You get a personal, non-transferable licence to use the app for your own language learning.

Anything you create in the app — recordings, saved phrases, notes — remains yours. You grant us the permission needed to store and process it in order to provide the service.

Place information, imagery, and map data are provided by third parties including Google Maps Platform, OpenStreetMap contributors, and Unsplash, and remain subject to their respective terms.

Service availability

We may change, suspend, or discontinue features at any time. We aim to keep the service running but do not guarantee uninterrupted availability. The app requires an internet connection for most functionality.

Ending your access

You may stop using the app and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these terms or that we reasonably believe present a risk to the service or other users.

Disclaimers and liability

The app is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law. To the extent permitted by law, our total liability arising out of or relating to the app is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or fifty US dollars. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected in the date at the top of this page, and where appropriate we will notify you in the app. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Missouri, United States, without regard to its conflict of laws rules. Nothing here removes consumer protections you are entitled to where you live.
